We have been appointed a new Community Support Officer. PC Greg Thompson is based at Frodsham and will be meeting the parish council for a ward walk on February 3rd. Rumour has it that he is as large as our last one was small! He can be contacted via email by Clicking Here or at Frodsham police station by calling 01244 612545, or to email; Click Here

•  There have been several burglaries recently where back doors have been smashed to gain entry. How secure is your back door? Often they are not overlooked and can be a gift to burglars.

• THE NEW NUMBER FOR CONTACTING THE POLICE - 101 As part of a national programme Cheshire Police non-emergency number of 0845 458 0000 has been replaced with 101. This number will provide a single non-emergency number across England and Wales and should be used to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response eg if your car has been stolen, your property vandalised, you have information about suspected drug use or dealing or to provide information about a crime. Calls to 101 will be charged at a flat rate of 15 pence no matter how long the call is, what time of day it is or whether the call is from a landline or mobile phone. If there is a threat to life, a crime in progress or a genuine emergency still call 999

• Beware of distraction burglaries, especially in rural areas. There will be 2 or more people who call and ask for assistance because their car has broken down. In fact, they are trying to get you to leave your property. Please report anything suspicious giving a vehicle description and registration number if possible.

• Emails are starting to appear which claim to be from HM Revenue and Customs after the recent announcement of potential errors in the tax code system. HMRC do not inform people of tax rebates by email and they do not ask people to fill in forms on-line. If you do receive this kind of email please DO NOT RESPOND but email it to HMRC by Clicking Here or go to the website by Clicking Here

• There have been several attempted break-ins over the last few weeks so please remain vigilant. A cold caller has been sentenced to 2.5 years and has had his £20,000 car confiscated to reimburse his victim. This was done by setting up cameras in the home of a repeat victim so it is worth reporting incidents.

• Cold Calling in Cuddington. Police are investigating a report that a vehicle has been stolen from the driveway of an address following a visit from cold callers at the address. Police already have some leads on this. Please be extra careful, keep your car keys out of sight and do not let anyone you don’t know enter your property. Report anything suspicious. Cold callers from National Rooflines are in the area and Trading Standards advise that they have had problems with the contact details they give. Call Consumer Direct on 08454 040506 for advice.

• There has been an attempt to steal lead from the roof of the Village Hall. Please be vigilant and report anything suspicious. Our beautiful hall, which we waited so long to get, is in a very prominent position in the village so if we all keep our eyes open we can hopefully protect it.

• Bogus waterboard officials have also been in the area recently. One lady had a substantial amount of money taken from her house by men who said they needed to check her water pressure. Please do not become a victim of this type of crime. Don’t let anyone into your house you don’t know without a phone call to check them out. Why not keep the numbers below by your phone. The more insistent people are on coming in without letting you check them the less likely they are to be genuine. The number for United Utilities is 0845 7462200, use it to check out anyone claiming to be from them. You can get general advice on consumer issues from Consumer Direct on 08454 040506, or visit their website by Clicking Here
